Instant Potatoes…..

…….are gross.  Quite simply – they are disgusting.  Quick, yes.  Simple to make, yes.  But taste good?  Quite definitely, no.

Must be a market for them though, cos people buy them.

We live in such an instant society these days.  Drive through food, coffee, and even drive through banking these days.  We lift up the phone and are instantly connected.  We start up the computer and can immediately chat to friends and family, anywhere in the world.  There is live news, live weather.  Bam.  Instant everything.

Makes for an impatient people I think.

I know I get impatient.  Funny how time and time again we have to wait for God answers and God miracles…….but they are always worth the wait.

Why do I always forget that things happen in His timing?  Looking back at my own life I have seen this, time and time again.  Babies – all according to His timetable and not my own.  Friendships developing – in His timing.  Confirmation of visas and moving – in His dayplanner.  And it is a perfect plan.  Hindsight is a glorious thing.

Maybe next time I’m in a hurry for things to happen according to my diary, my timetable and my timing, I should remember that instant ain’t always good.  Just like the potatoes.

  1. Instant potatoes – reminds me of student days! I have never used them since those days 🙂 Isn’t it interesting that waiting is one of the hardest things to do and yet when we look back we find we drew closer to God as we waited, we delved deeper into His Word, and we prayed more. You are right it is “always worth the wait”. Heard this morning at Church that “those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40 v 31. That’s worth it!

Enjoy your “real ” potatoes and your “waiting on the Lord” 🙂

    God bless you, Sarah

  2. Yes these are very unappealing. I remember my mom made them once for us and I said, mom what is wrong with these potatoes and she was laughing cause she didnt’ want us to notice they were instant but I could tell immeditally–they are terrible and should be outlawed. Now there are some American instant delights that far much better –like velveeta mac and cheese–but for the most part you discovered one of the nasties.
I love checking this from time to time to see your posts! I am a terrible blogger…but i may try again when baby comes we will see. 4 weeks now!!!

  3. Oy – yick. I can’t eat potatoes anyway, b/c my husband is deathly, deathly allergic, but still. I had instant ONCE. Not again.

Doesn’t stop me from hurrying God on things though. This is a good reminder.
