5 mins of writing on a set topic.
I’ve decided that if I ever wanted to do more writing….and to really get serious about it then I need to be able to just write. Simply write. So I’m going to join some friends linking up at Lisa-Jo’s blog and we shall see what fun ensues…..
So here goes….
It is funny what we naturally think of in the world, when it comes to opportunity. We think of being given a chance. Being offered a hand up. We think of those who have seemingly stumbled into the limelight by chance and then from there has flown opportunity. We consider the coming into money as opportunity. Perhaps an inheritance passed down, or a rare lottery win. Opportunity.
I don’t think God sees that as opportunity though, and I think a lot of everyday occurrences pass us by, without us seeing them as opportunity.
Opportunity to shine His light.
Opportunity to cast the spotlight on Him.
Opportunity to show His love, for it is by our love that people will know we are His disciples.
Opportunity in the form of not gossiping. Not joining in with the Mums at coffee group who are putting their husbands/ parents/ in laws/ children down.
Opportunity in the form of smiling at your kids and welcoming them home, with open arms, instead of pointing out the things they may not have done, or are still to do.
Opportunity in the form of avoiding pink fluff words to encourage or even to highlight what the Lord is doing in our lives – but to really get down and into our friends’ faces. Ask the tough questions. Be the listening ear. Be the shoulder to cry on. To place more importance on our friends, than on us.
Opportunity in the form of board games taking up space on your kitchen tale. Of tears and frustrations as you teach your children the art of loosing graciously.
Opportunity is all around us – each of us – and we have the absolute promise that:
‘If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones’ Luke 16: 10.
God sees His good and faithful servants. God sees when we cast Him as the main character in our lives. Opportunity.
